I’m happy to say I’m feeling a lot better. I’ve been with it enough to read most of The Invisibles, watch a good chunk of the first season of Chapelle’s Show, play with the kitties and make a bunch of earrings. I also managed to get caught up with the internet… so, why don’t we get caught up with a few of my favorite things!
1. Gunter and Skipper
Oh my, these kitties are just the cutest. It’s been such a pleasure having Skipper with us. I’m not entirely sure Gunter is in agreement, but that’s just because he hasn’t had the opportunity to pin her down for snuggles yet. Skipper just waves her tail in an around-the-world-and-back-snap and hisses, “I belong to no man.”
As an aside for the Portlanders, if you lack kitty time, but can’t have a cat, let me recommend funding this indiegogo for Purrington’s Cat Lounge. This might by my favorite idea, ever.
2. The Invisibles
Holy balls, this series is amazing. It took me a long time to get around to it, because I knew it was going to be a big undertaking. So it was kind of advantageous that I got a bug right after I started it, allowing me to plow through one or two of the trades each day. And I can’t wait to re-read it. Such a complex and imaginative story. It’s moving.
3. Deep Sea Fauna with Googly Eyes
Seriously, do I need to explain? It’s scary creatures looking cute.
4. This article giving a very good example of how language affects perception
I really like this article entitled, Stop Saying I Have A Boyfriend. It really nails how we (women, humans, whatever) use language to hold ourselves back. This phrase is a powerful spell, if you believe in it.
5. Neighbors by Amy Bennett
This link to Neighbors by Amy Bennett was sent to me by Emil. The series of paintings are of a model neighborhood, like the attic in Beetlejuice. In any case, I love the paintings, and I’d love the models, too. And I especially love that miniatures and dioramas are something that make people think of me. I am absolutely delighted when things like this turn up in my mailbox (hint, hint).
May this week find you well! Sincerely,
